Irish mining company Kenmare Resources produced 76,500 tons of ilmenite in January and February at its heavy sands project in Moma, Mozambique, the company said in a statement issued last week.
In the statement the company mentioned the problems affecting heavy mineral concentrate production, which totalled 116,500 tons, notably adverse weather conditions following cyclones and tropical depressions that hit vast coastal area in northern Mozambique and power outages.
Kenmare Resources also said that its project to expand the Moma facility was still underway and that it included building new production areas, including the Ore Separation Plant and that engineering and construction work on the necessary steel structures was progressing well.
